INNOPRAKTIKA SCHOOL
New international project to support young artists interested in Russian culture
News
The Art Session of the Innopraktika School will be held from May 22 to June 9 at the Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin in St. Petersburg. The Session will culminate in an exhibition of works created by the School's participants during their studies in Russia.
Year after year, the professional level of candidates for the School of Innopraktika art session grows, and the expert council, headed by Academy of Arts Rector Semyon Mikhailovsky, does thorough and meticulous work to form a rating of the participants' applications. 182 applications from artists and sculptors from 23 countries were submitted this year, of which 25 candidates were short-listed for the School's Art Session. Fifteen finalists from nine countries - Argentina, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Turkey, Venezuela, Burundi, Vietnam, Uganda, and Burkina Faso – passed all stages of the selection process and were invited to participate.
More
Following last year's trends, artists from the African continent show great interest in Russia's artistic traditions: the Expert Council received 105 applications from artists and sculptors from the region. 11 candidates successfully passed the strict selection, and at the end of May, they will arrive in St. Petersburg to demonstrate their skills and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Russian academic painting. As a tribute to the active international cultural cooperation, the works of participants from Africa, recognized as the best by the end of the Session, will also be presented at the School's exhibition at the "Russia-Africa" summit, which will be held from 26 to July 28, 2023, at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center.
Two Art Sessions will be held simultaneously this year for the first time in the School of Innopraktika's history: international participants will be joined by 10 students of Matusovsky Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts, selected among the best in the field session of the School in 2022. This approach to education will allow participants to actively exchange professional experiences, find a fresh perspective on familiar cultural concepts, and reveal them in a completely new way.
A constant leitmotif of the educational curriculum is the struggle taking place within modern man between eternal, true global principles and the aggressively imposed meaningless temptations of the modern world. Mentors from the Academy of Fine Arts will help School students express their understanding of this complex process in the form of art.
Students of both Art Sessions will enjoy a fascinating joint cultural program with visits to the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the Tsarskoye Selo Palace, and places of memory associated with famous artists to create an intellectual context and an emotional background for independent creative work. Mentors and experienced guides will help participants learn about the ethical and aesthetic foundations of the national cultural code, the complexities and contradictions of the modern world order, the mission of the creator and the public good, and a sense of the past and a vision for the future.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
We are an international educational project, which discovers Russia for overseas art students and contributes to the development of intercultural dialogue between representatives of different countries, artistic views and esthetic traditions. The school was initiated by Innopraktika company.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
INNOPRAKTIKA SCHOOL activity is driven by the principles of cultural relations where prior experience and today’s realities are of equal importance.
