ART SESSION

TOPIC OF PROJECT: «UNITED IN CREATIVITY»

The idea of the project is to choose between inner personal values and those affected by the external aspects, such as the media, the Internet and social stereotypes.

How to deal with values conflict in modern world? What kind of controversial values do people face? What are the moral dilemmas they solve?

SESSION PROGRAM INCLUDES:

The Program is divided into two parts:

The first part involves getting acquainted with Russian culture. This part includes lectures, excursions and special activities in a format of talk aimed to reflect on cultural
immersion.

 The second part includes the curriculum consisting of intensive courses and master classes.

 The final part is creation of an artwork on the suggested topic.

ABOUT ST. PETERSBURG RIMSKY-KORSAKOV STATE CONSERVATORY

The St. Petersburg Conservatory was founded in 1862 on the initiative of the outstanding Russian pianist and composer Anton Rubinstein.

From the first years, the leading musicians of Russia and Europe such as T. Leschetizky, H. Wieniawski, L. Auer, K. Davydov, H. Nissen-Saloman, C. Everardi, C. Ciardi, V. Schubert taught here and established local performing schools.

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov became the founder of the St. Petersburg composition school. Among the first graduates of the conservatory was Pyotr Tchaikovsky, who graduated with honors in 1865.

The Conservatory today is one of the leading music universities in Russia. The unified educational, academic, and creative complex of the Conservatory includes six faculties (piano, orchestral, folk instruments, composition and conducting, vocal and stage directing, musicology), the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Secondary Special Music School, and the Mekhnetsov Folklore-Ethnographic Center.

Among the professors of the Conservatory are People's Artists of the Russian Federation O. Kondina, Yu. Laptev, Yu. Marusin, M. Gantvarg and others. Among the graduates of the Conservatory are V. Gergiev, G. Sokolov, V. Petrenko, T. Sokhiev, A. Netrebko, A. Sladkovsky and others.

For many years the Conservatory has been maintaining relations with the largest universities and musical educational institutions in Europe, Asia, and America, organizing international academic conferences and master classes both in the Conservatory and in other cities and countries.
